    SYNOPSIS

Fundamental of vibration. One-degree-of-freedom system: free vibration of an undammed and damped systems. Harmonically excited vibration: forced undammed and damped systems; unbalance rotating mass; base excitation. Two-degree-of-freedom system: natural frequencies and mode shapes. Continuous structures: beam, string and plates. Design of vibration suppression: vibration isolation and vibration absorber.

    LEARNING OUTCOMES

    1. Apply the fundamental principles of vibration of one-and two-degree-of-freedom systems in a simple engineering practice.

    2. Solve the natural frequencies and mode shapes of a vibrating system.

    3. Design basic techniques of vibration control.
